Built for reliability and performance, the Standard HX400 will not let you down. This easy to operate Handheld VHF is intrinsically safe which is a protection technique for safe operation of electronic equipment in explosive atmospheres. HX400IS is water submersible to IPX8 (5’ for 30 Minutes), and also features a 5 or 1 watt power output.

The built in noise cancelling Mic greatly improves voice quality while communicating in noisy environments, ensuring that the end user can understand your message without interference. Loud speaker audio assures you can be heard in loud and windy locations. You can also stay on top of weather with pre-programmed NOAA Weather Channels! Changing between U.S., Canadian, or International channels is as easy as 1-2-3. Plus, the HX400is also has the capability of programming 40 Land Mobile channels with CTCSS and DCS signaling.

The Lithium Ion supplied battery provides about 17 hours of communication time, and the low battery indicator lets you know when it’s time to re-charge. Every Standard Horizon HX400 ships from the factory preloaded with description of the use of Marine channels (16-Distress, 22A-USCG, 71-Pleasure). Customize these so you can easily understand the use of each channel to suit your personal preference. The submersible HX400IS intrinsically safe handheld VHF is built to withstand the day-in day-out punishment in hostile commercial environments. The HX400IS, SBR-29LIIS Intrinsically Safe battery pack, and optional SSM-14A and CMP460 speaker microphones all meet ANSI/UL 913-5th Ed. requirements for: Class I: Flammable Gases, Vapors, or Liquids Div. 1 Group C (Ethylene), Group D (Propane), Class II: Combustible Dusts, Div. 1 Group E (Metals), Group F (Coal), Group G (Grain), Class III: Ignitable Fibers & Flyings, Temperature Code: T3.

Lithium-ion battery and charger

The HX400IS is supplied with a whopping 2550 mAh Lithium-Ion battery that will keep you talking for about 17 hours.

There is no need to worry about the time it takes to fully charge the huge 2550mA battery as the HX400IS is supplied with a 3-hour rapid charger.

Marine and Land Mobile Channels

The HX400IS is factory programmed with all USA, Canadian and International and NOAA Weather channels. It also has the capability to be programmed with 40 Land Mobile Radio (137-174MHz) channels with CTCSS or DCS signaling by a Standard Horizon dealer.

These channels do require the appropriate Federal Communications Communication license.

Built-in Noise Canceling Mic and Voice scrambler

The HX400IS will surpass your voice transmissions expectations in noisy and windy environments with the built-in noise canceling microphone.

No need to purchase an optional voice scrambler for secure communications as the HX400IS has it built-in. The internal scrambler is compatible with Standard Horizon VHF Fixed Mount and Handheld VHF 4-code scramblers.

Loud speaker audio

The HX400IS is designed to be heard in even the noisiest environments with 700mW of power supplied to the internal speaker.

Speaker Microphone Connection

Optional speaker microphone or headsets are available to assist with your communications needs.

Programmable Channel Names

The HX400IS is supplied from the factory preloaded with description of the use of Marine channels (16-Distress, 22A-USCG, 71-Pleasure). The channel names may be customized by the user to easily understand the use of each channel.

NOAA Weather channels and Weather Alert

10 NOAA and Canadian Weather channels are pre-programmed and easily selectable using the dedicated WX key. In addition, the HX400IS can be set to monitor WX channels and provide an audible alert to inform of pending storm advisories.

Programmable Scan, Priority Scan and Dual Watch

Scanning is not an issue with the HX400IS. The radio can be setup to scan any number of channels with or without a priority channel or simply can be setup to scan between a priority channel and on other channel (dual watch).

10 favorite channel recall – Preset Key

Dedicated key that allows programming and quick selection of up to 10 favorite Marine VHF or NOAA Weather channels.

Battery Life indication

The display shows a battery bar graph guage to inform the charge left in the Lithium-ion battery.
